An active social position is one of the principles by which M.VIDEO operates. From the first years of its existence, the Company has engaged in charitable work in diverse areas, and has carried out a number of charitable projects. For many years, the Company's Charitable Works Department brought many programs to fruition, helping orphans, veterans, and families in need. Later, due to the broad range of its activities, this department was transformed into the "Our Initiative" Charitable Foundation. The foundation continues to develop and support charitable programs and social projects, considers all incoming requests and makes funding decisions. The Company's Charitable Foundation helps those in children's homes, residential schools for orphans and children bereft of parental care, teachers, WWII veterans and former workers, stage and screen actors, the handicapped, physical therapy centers and hospitals for children and soldiers, needy families and families with many children. "Our Initiative" has a number of charitable program. Some of them are:
The Foundation provides children's homes and hospitals with fiction and educational literature, fairy tales and storybooks, and gives children a chance to learn about the history and culture of Moscow.
Each year, leavers from children's homes receive presents; those whom the Moscow Government provides with apartments receive a selection of appliances and housewares from M.VIDEO as a housewarming gift.
"Our Initiative" provides assistance and support to the adult population of Moscow as well. On City Day needy families receive useful appliances as a gift.
On the Anniversary of the Red Square Parade of 7 November 1941, on Victory Day on 9 May, and on Defender of the Fatherland Day on 23 February, M.VIDEO gives holiday gift baskets and useful appliances to veterans, and memorial presents to those reaching a jubilee birthday.
In addition, the "Our Initiative" Foundation works closely with other charitable foundations to help children who require expensive medical operations.
Targeted stipends are given to the best post-secondary students.
Our humanitarian efforts extend to animal protection as well. Together with the World Wildlife Fund, M.VIDEO takes part in joint projects to preserve natural resources and wildlife.
